I am glad you chose the beach wood:) It creates a story for people viewing the jewelry and then people can place themselves there wearing it. I do not think all jewelry would work this way, but your natural collections work wonderfully:)

Thanks for the feedback Mary Beth! Were you suggesting that I use black earring cards rather than white? I photographed my recent work a few days ago and was happy to see that the jewelry looked best when hanging from the wood (no earring cards at all). I’ll be posting those pictures soon, so you’ll have to let me know what you think! I love the beach wood, but I think your earrings would show up better on a black inset to the terrific card. Right now, the earrings don’t grab your attention; I noticed the wood first. If there was a contrasting color behind the earrings, I think the eye would be drawn there first, then the beach wood, then the intricate lace effect of the card.

Ahhh yeah I see what you mean. I just bought a Nikon D3100 about a month ago, so I could probably get a pretty good shot. Thanks for the tip! I definitely agree that pictures are the most important on Etsy – hopefully I can really improve my photography skills over the next few weeks (before launching my shop)!

I can’t do such a professional photo, but if you have a good camera you could try.
The picture are probably the most important thing on Etsy, they should catch the eye of buyers at first glance :)

Thanks so much for the feedback! It is greatly appreciated. You mean macro as in, if I took a closer shot? It’s already set at a macro level on the camera itself, but I think I know what you mean. Thanks Dad! I’ll have to experiment with some other light-colored backgrounds (like you mentioned) for my other pieces. We’ll see how it looks. Everyone seems to agree that the beachwood looks best for my shell jewelry though, so that’s a great start!
